Episcopal church in the Champaign-Urbana area of Illinois

The Chapel of Saint John the Divine is a parish of the Episcopal Church, ministering to the community of Champaign-Urbana and the Episcopal campus ministry to the University of Illinois. As a constituent part of the Anglican Communion, we are also church home for international students and scholars.

We are a welcoming, lively, and diverse congregation offering mindful ways to worship, learn and serve. We invite you to join us as we seek to worship and follow Christ. ALL are ALWAYS INVITED and WELCOMED!

Parish News

The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with the Blessing of the Animals will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. We hope you will make plans to bring your pets and your entire family for this special annual event to celebrate God’s creation of the animals that share our homes, our lives, and our love. Please be sure that they are properly restrained with leashes or crates to prevent any accidents or escapes! If your pet is just too unwieldy, or if you are student and your pet lives far away, you are welcome to bring a photo of your pet.

Remembering and honoring those who lost their lives in the attacks of 09/11/01, our Canterbury Choir will lead us in a celebration of a solemn evensong on September 11, 2016. While this event will be a traditional evensong, we are making a special effort as a parish to invite and include in this service those of other Christian traditions as well as those of other faiths. The service itself will begin at 5:15 pm and we invite you to join us and bring others with you.
