Parish News

The Interim Search Committee and the Vestry are pleased to announce that Fr. Rob Nichols has accepted our offer of the position of Interim Rector.

Fr. Rob comes to us from Mobile, Alabama. He grew up Episcopalian in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated from Millsaps College in 1977. After some work experience and a brief experiment with law school, he attended Virginia Theological Seminary and received the M.Div. in 1988. He was ordained priest on 26 October 1989, the Feast of Alfred the Great.

The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, was celebrant and preacher at the Sunday Eucharist at St. John the Divine on March 20. Her visit to the Chapel was at the invitation of the newly-consecrated Bishop of Springfield, the Right Reverend Daniel Martins. Her visit comes in conjunction with our celebration of 100 years of ministry on the campus of the University of Illinois. Continue below for links to her Sermon at St. John's and video coverage of her visit. Additional pictures are in our Photo Gallery.
