Episcopal church in the Champaign-Urbana area of Illinois

The Chapel of Saint John the Divine is a parish of the Episcopal Church, ministering to the community of Champaign-Urbana and the Episcopal campus ministry to the University of Illinois. As a constituent part of the Anglican Communion, we are also church home for international students and scholars.

We are a welcoming, lively, and diverse congregation offering mindful ways to worship, learn and serve. We invite you to join us as we seek to worship and follow Christ. ALL are ALWAYS INVITED and WELCOMED!

Parish News

Dearest incoming students,

106 years ago, the Episcopal Church commissioned a chaplaincy at the University of Illinois. And since, this chaplaincy and parish have now served the students, faculty, and staff of UIUC, along with the wider Champaign-Urbana community.

To honor our mission as a college chaplaincy, students (and others) gather weekly on Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. for worship, a free home cooked meal, lively conversation and friendship.

Fall semester at UIUC is quickly approaching! This year our goal is to distribute 500 cookies to students on Quad Day. We are seeking 21 volunteers to bake and bring two dozen cookies on Sunday, August 21. Both gluten and gluten-free cookies are needed. Together, we will enjoy lemonade, iced tea and refreshments after the 10:00 a.m. service on the lawn in front of the Canterbury House as we reach out to the student community. Please sign up to bring cookies here or call the parish office at 344-1924 to sign up.
