Episcopal church in Urbana, Illinois

The Chapel of St. John the Divine is a parish of the Episcopal Church, ministering to the community of Champaign-Urbana and the campus at the University of Illinois. As a constituent part of the Anglican Communion, we are also church home for international students and scholars.

We are a welcoming, lively, and diverse congregation offering mindful ways to worship, learn and serve. We welcome you to the work and fellowship of our church.

Vox Chambana will make its musical debut at the Chapel on Thursday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend. Vox Chambana is an eight-voice ensemble dedicated to performing music from the 15th and 16th centuries. John Cox is the Director of this vocal group.

LIVING THE QUESTIONS is a series of video presentations by contemporary theologians in an open-minded alternative to studies that attempt to give participants all the answers. The program features a series of 20-minute video segments followed by discussion. Join us anytime since each topic is independent of previous session.

Piper Hodson will facilitate this series which being at 11:30 Sunday mornings in the Choir Room

The recitals are free and open to the public. Recitals are at 12:10 p.m., with the exception of the final recital, which is at 7:30 p.m. Freewill offerings provide a small stipend for the organists.

Creation as Prayer: An Opportunity for Creative Reflection

During this workshop of creative reflection you will have an opportunity to make a small intimate book—for important prayers, Bible readings, meaningful quotations, significant thoughts, and/or small images. Come prepared with your favorite quotations and so forth and some ideas of how you would like your personal prayer book to appear.

We will provide the materials to make the book, to write inside of it, and to decorate the pages.

Sunday, March 14, 2010 - 8:00am

Join us for at 8 a.m. for a quiet, said celebration of the Holy Eucharist, or at 10 a.m. for a full Choral Eucharist with the Canterbury Choir. At 10 a.m. Child care is provided in Canterbury House adjacent to the Chapel. A Children's Service begins in Canterbury House before it joins the service in the Chapel. Coffee Hour and Christian education programs follow the 10 a.m. service.
