Episcopal church in the Champaign-Urbana area of Illinois

The Chapel of Saint John the Divine is a parish of the Episcopal Church, ministering to the community of Champaign-Urbana and the Episcopal campus ministry to the University of Illinois. As a constituent part of the Anglican Communion, we are also church home for international students and scholars.

We are a welcoming, lively, and diverse congregation offering mindful ways to worship, learn and serve. We invite you to join us as we seek to worship and follow Christ. ALL are ALWAYS INVITED and WELCOMED!

Parish News

We are happy to kick off our 105th year as a college chaplaincy of The Episcopal Church. For over 100 years, we have served the students, faculty, and wider Champaign-Urbana community. Students and the wider university community gather on Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. for worship, a free home cooked meal and lively conversation and friendship. We also invite you to participate in our weekly Sunday services at 8 am and 10 am.

The Sixth Sunday of Easter - May 10 this year - is known as Rogation Sunday in our church calendar. A long-standing tradition at the Chapel includes processing to and the blessing of the Morrow Plots across the quad. Established in 1876, the Morrow Plots are the oldest agronomic experiment fields in the United States. The procession begins with the final hymn at the 10:00 a.m. service. We invite you to join us in this very special tradition!
