St. John's Members Making a Difference in Community Feeding Programs
Posted October 7th, 2009
The discontinuance of the Catholic Workers’ House lunch program has been much in the news recently. A number of our members have been steadfast and enthusiastic volunteers week after week! ~ Audrey Johnson, Barbara Yoder, Christine Weaver, Susan Westbury, Joanne Wheeler, Kathy Shannon, and Zarina Hock. A new lunch program, the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, is currently serving sack lunches only, using the kitchen of New Covenant Fellowship. Leaders are searching energetically for a new location where they can provide not only sack lunches but prepared hot lunches with soup, a main course, and dessert...not to mention making toilet articles, sock, gloves and winter clothing available when we have them. We’re proud of our Chapel members’ involvement in this important effort!
