Christmas Services at St. John the Divine
Posted December 23rd, 2009
Our principal Christmas service is a Festal Choral Eucharist at 10:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Canterbury Choir and Choristers will lead our singing. The service begins with a Solemn Procession to "Once in Royal David's City," led by thurifer, crucifer and torchbearers. There will be wonderful anthems and carols for this service, which is one of the most beautiful of the church year.
There is a simple, said celebration of the Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. on Christmas Day.
On the Sunday after Christmas, December 27, the congregation becomes the choir for a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols at 10:00 a.m. That is the only service that day.
